Coffs Harbour Botanical Gardens covers 20 hectares with rainforest, tropical plants, a Japanese garden, natural mangroves and 5 greenhouses. You can also do a self-guided tour through the gardens.

National Marine Science Centre with its saltwater tanks feature many different species of fish and inverterbrae’s is part of the Southern Cross University.

The National Cartoon Gallery housed in an old World War II bunker has a collection of thousands of cartoons and ever changing exhibits of art and the bald Archies each year.

Explore the Coffs Harbour Butterfly House with its indoor, subtropical rainforest where you will find and learn about hundreds of Australian butterflies. There is also a dinosaur forest with 6 life size dinosaurs, a gift shop and a cafe.

To the south, Sawtell Village is a jewel of the Coffs Coast with its beautiful big fig trees lining the middle of the main street. With many excellent cafes and restaurants, shops, a cinema and local clubs including the RSL, Golf Club and Sawtell Bowls Club and the Sawtell Hotel, Sawtell is a great place to relax with a drink and feed looking out over the main street. There is also of course the magnificent beach, headland and rock pool to dip your toes in.

MUST SEE is the Slim Dusty Centre in South Kempsey with its vast array of memorabilia mostly supplied by the Kirkpatrick family but also from mates and fans. It’s an awesome display starting from the early days of Slim and Joys’ careers which went for sixty years.
Don’t think you have to be a Slim Dusty fan to enjoy this display, it is amazing.

The Pub with No Beer at Taylors Arm is known by the locals as the eighth wonder of the world. Sample the many beers on tap including the Dusty Lager. Inside the pub is filled with local history and Slim Dusty memorabilia.

Heading west, winding up Waterfall Way you can visit the Dorrigo Rainforest Centre. The centre is a great place with a cafe, gift shop and skywalk that has amazing views over the rainforest all the way to the coast.

North of Coffs is Woolgoolga, known by locals as Woopi, and is a great little seaside town with cafes, clubs and the Seaview Tavern. There is a large Sikh community here with a beautiful big temple. Woolgoolga Headland offers great views out over the Pacific Ocean and is also a great spot to view passing whales in the migration season (May to November).

Yarrawarra Aboriginal Cultural Centre at Corindi Beach has an art gallery full of art sculptures and objects from the local community. They also have workshops for clay modelling, painting and weaving.

Travelling further north is the historic port town of Ulmarra. Located on the Clarence River, there was millions of tonnes of timber exported from the town back in the 1800’s and early 1900’s. Take a wander through town and take in the heritage listed buildings with unique shops, art gallery and the historic Ulmarra Hotel.
